Question:
A friend and I are planning a trip to amsterdam. Round trip air from boston with 3 nites in a hotel seems to be pretty easy to find in the 600 dollar range but I am wondering if anyone else is seeing anything better. We are traveling in mid febuary, from a thursday to monday.

As far as the hotels go, these are the options that are going to work for us, price wise, if anyone has any suggestions on which would be best for 2 guys, early 30's, looking to visit the cafes and explore the museums architecture and just in general wander around by foot.

If anyone has any leads for a cheaper way I would love to hear them!! Nh Caransa Nh Schiller Ramada International City Centre Tulip Inn Amsterdam Centre Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel Nh Amsterdam Centre Nh Tropen

Answer: Last time I was in A'dam I stayed in the Hotel Annemarie, Jan Willem Brouwstraat 14 - just behind the Concertgebouw. A pension with a bit of a hostel atmosphere, fairly basic but very comfortable and friendly - there was even a resident cat who decided to spend the night on my duvet! - and likely to be quite a bit cheaper than the ones you've found so far, so that might offset the cost of the flights.

There are many similar in Amsterdam, of course, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this one. Excellent cafe for breakfast just up the street, too, and probably the best classical-CD shop I've ever visited right around the corner...
